European Spec Brake Rotors - E46 M3 (1999 - 2005)

These are factory BMW cross drilled rotors fitted on the Eurpoean E46 M3. They improve both cooling and prevent brake fatigue as opposed to the solid, non-ventilated US Spec brake rotors fitted on the 2001 US spec E46 M3.
With an aluminum center hub, there is a weight saving, but the best gain is the reduction in rotational weight on each axle.

The front rotors weigh 15 lbs (vs stock 17 lbs) and the rear weigh 14lbs (vs stock 15.5 lbs). The cross drilled design increases cooling and helps reduce brake fatigue.

Active Autowerke is proud to announce the introduction of the EXZESS front brake rotor for the E36 M3.

It was designed solely for the discriminating high performance driver who is looking for the ultimate brake rotor to withstand the abuse of high performance driving at track events and still have the luxury of using it on the street.

To meet the criteria of these demands, the brake rotor had to be designed from "SCRATCH". The typical approach to using a street rotor and trying to "freeze it" by way of cryogenics and then heat treat it to maintain stable "grain structure" at high temperatures just could not "CUT IT". The demands of the track and ultra high performance driving would simply take it's toll on such a rotor.

Exzess spent 2 years researching and developing the "ULTIMATE BRAKE ROTOR" by looking at some of the world's ultra high performance cars such as Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Bentley, etc. and then formulating the correct metallurgical composition of the right ingredient to make for a stable "grain structure" at high temperatures.

This brake rotor is probably the ONLY true 2 piece rotor designed for the E36 M3 designed to be used with the stock caliper and any choice of brake pads. It is designed for the track but can be taken to the street, rather than the typical made for the street and taken to the track rotor.
